This is the collection that started my Lanvin Love – Spring 2003. These dresses came late in the collection, but I was totally gaga for them. Fast forward to 2011, Lanvin under Alber Elbaz’s direction is a fashion powerhouse.

The real reason I put this photo up and made you walk down memory lane with me is that I can’t embed the video of a recent talk between Alber Elbaz and Cathy Horyn for the New York Times.  The video quality is deplorable, but it’s Alber. He’s talented and charmingly self-conscious (you’ll see what I mean when you watch the video). It’s a treat to hear him talk about design in his own words.
