New York, New York

Pre-fall is in full swing, but I haven’t found much of interest in those presentations. Instead I present a small montage of my favorite stores during a recent foray to New York.

JF and Son x Amy Yao

I met Katie King and Jesse Finklestein of JF and Son by happenstance at Iko Iko and they lured me to Ooga Booga with two words: hair and sequins. Accompanied by an out-of-town friend I went to see what was what. The what turned out to be a creepy/adorable collection of clothes entitled “Another Masterpiece” designed by Amy Yao and produced by JF and Son.  There were sequined jumpsuits, sweet dresses with synthetic hair embellishment and a couple of wild prints, one featuring kittens the other sausages and bananas. All of the items were accompanied by ironic style names like yysl and Whore Moans. I was amused.

Here are a couple of my own photos of my own from the night and the collection.

Amy herself had an elfin charm and wore a dress from her collection along with some great Dries van Notes shoes. Amy’s sister and owner of Ooga Booga, Wendy, was modeling the Whore Moans top and skirt.

The New York event included a live runway presentation, photos of which you can check out  here.
